Sixty minutes just wasn’t long enough for the win when Hayes Secondary School U14 Football Team met Highworth Grammer School on Wednesday 29th March 2017 at Beckenham Town FC for the FA Kent County Cup Final.
Hayes proved very strong in the first half and the 0-0 score line at half time didn’t reflect the game. Highworth came out a renewed side after half time and had a few chances but an outstanding performance from the Hayes goalie (Shea Williams) put paid to any that – who incidentally was playing with a broken finger!! What a hero!
At full time the scoreline was still 0-0 so extra time was added, 10 mins each way.
Just before the whistle of the first half of extra time a lovely ball was played by sub Ellie Thomas to put through Lolly Singleton for a spectacular volley straight into the left hand corner for a magnificent goal.
This proved the defining point of the game, with renewed legs on the pitch, sub Tahnee Johnson nearly made it 2-0 with a run on the right hand side of the pitch that The Flash would have been proud of.
Final whistle and a 1-0 win to Hayes Girls was celebrated with a bundle of Miss Graham (coach) on the centre spot!
Well Done Girls – you should be very proud!
